Lack of representation of women in Mariachi

Instructions:

• The student will conduct research concerning a type of musical tradition; this music could be a musical tradition that was covered in the course, or that was not covered in the course.
• Research projects must utilize 5 sources outside of any readings or media presented in the class. At least four of these sources must be bibliographic, archival, or scholastic;
• The student should use the research conducted as a means to explore, confirm, problematize, or dispute discussions of that musical tradition presented in the course (if it was covered) or elsewhere (if it was not covered in the course).
• Use of musical terminology, concepts, ethnomusicological frameworks, theories, and approaches as discussed in the course are a must for successfully completing this project.
